Medical and Health Services Manager Job Description

Medical and Health Services Manager is responsible for providing direction and managing the day-to-day operations of a medical facility.

The professional title "Medical and Health Services Manager" was created in 2003 as an industry wide accepted professional credential. This title was created to provide a standard of qualification for the health service managers and administrators of medical facilities including hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, home care services and mental health facilities.

 

The Medical and Health Services Manager is responsible for the efficient day-to-day operations of an entire healthcare facility or one specific department such as; Human Resources, Finance, Patient Accounts or Environmental Services.

 

It is the manager's responsibility to insure that all regulatory and government standards are met and maintained.

 

These often include: compliance with licensing regulations, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety & Health, Public Works/Building Codes and Continuous Quality Improvement requirements. Medical and Healthcare facilities must maintain their accreditations as set by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory HealthCare (AAAHC) or Canadian Organization of Medical Facilities Administrators (COMFA).
