In the United States, a nurse practitioner is an advanced practice registered nurse who has graduated from a master's or post-master's program accredited by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). A highly skilled Registered Nurse with specialized knowledge in primary care and prevention, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses across the lifespan, including pediatrics. APNs must be patient centered and work to establish a therapeutic relationship based on trust and collaboration with patients.
